Land Deployed IOT Solutions

Land Deployed Internet Of Things (IOT) Solutions cover a spectrum of use cases. Dandelions primary value add is to provide a layer of communications on which other services can be adequately provisioned. Specifically, Dandelions uses the WiFi standard, allowing our clients to not worry about device level compatibility issues.

The second big win for land deployed IOT systems is that it opens up the world for passive monitoring of remote assets. This means a core team can monitor a large number of assets in real time with significant savings depending on how large your network gets, scale makes things cheaper in this case.

Range: The big question we get when talking to clients is around range - how far can the Dandelions WiFi solution be extended to? 5 kms in good conditions, and we are working on daisy chaining solutions - also known as mesh solutions - too!

Farm IOT Solutions

Use cases for IOT in agricultural applications are around sensor grids in remote locations. This could be as simple as a solar powered webcam beaming still images every few minutes of a water body, or for monitoring of lifestock.

This use case is variously known as smart farming, or precision agriculture.

In more advanced use cases, and we are involved in a number of conversations around this, Dandelions sees the increased adoption of farm robotics adapted to various parts of the produce to market lifecycle.

We are also very open to working with startups in this sector. If you have a custom ag related sensor and are working to incorporate it into the grid, talk to us today!

Environmental IOT

Environmental monitoring describes the processes and activities that need to take place to characterise and monitor the quality of the environment around client assets. Monitoring is used in the preparation of environmental impact assessments, as well as in many circumstances in which human activities carry a risk of harmful effects on the natural environment. This is a critical activity where the long term ROI of assets may be impacted by negative environmental outcomes.

All monitoring strategies and programs have reasons and justifications which are often designed to establish the current status of an environment or to establish trends in environmental parameters. Dandelions solutions can thus be used in two distinct ways, (a) to setup a system which provides a baseline for an upcoming environmental assessment, and (b) ongoing environmental assessments to guard against adverse environmental outcomes.

Principally prospects are looking to monitor parameters in:

  1. Air Monitoring: Air quality monitors are operated by citizens, regulatory agencies, and researchers to investigate air quality and the effects of air pollution. Interpretation of ambient air monitoring data often involves a consideration of how representative the data gathered may be, and the health effects associated with exposure to the monitored levels.
  2. Soil Monitoring: Soil monitoring involves the collection and/or analysis of soil and its associated quality, constituents, and physical status to determine or guarantee its fitness for use and/or other safety considerations. Soil faces many threats, including compaction, contamination, organic material loss, biodiversity loss, slope stability issues, erosion, salinisation, and acidification. Soil monitoring helps characterise these threats and other potential risks to the soil, surrounding environments, animal health, and human health.
  3. Water Monitoring: Water monitoring is exceptionally complex and ranges from chemical, biological, radiological and microbiological monitoring.
